# Export Questionnaire

With QUESTIONSTAR, you can easily export your questionnaire to a **Word or PDF document**. This is especially handy when you need a **paper version** — for example for **paper-and-pencil studies**, **postal surveys**, **archiving**, or for **team review and documentation**.

**Here's how to export your questionnaire:**

![Export Questionnaire](/api/media/file/1.-Fragebogen-exportieren.png)

1. In the top right of the survey view, click the **three-dot menu**.
2. Select the menu item **"Export Questionnaire"**.

3. In the dialog window, choose the **file format** you want:**Word document (.docx)** — ideal if you still want to edit the file or prepare it for printing, e.g. for classic paper-and-pencil surveys or as an appendix to a results report.**PDF document (.pdf)** — ideal if you want to print the questionnaire directly or share the working version by email with colleagues.
4. **Optional:** Enable the option **"Include Question Numbers"** if you want the numbers to be visible in the export.Question numbers are particularly useful for internal use:**For referencing individual questions** — e.g. in meetings or in team comments.**For evaluation and analysis** — when you want to refer to specific questions.**For documentation** — such as in final reports or when checking the questionnaire's structure. For **field use**, on the other hand, we recommend **disabling the numbering** — it can confuse, distract, or even deter respondents, since it might give the impression that the questionnaire is very long.
5. Click **"Export"** to start the download.

Even if your questionnaire is usually used digitally, the export is a valuable way to ensure quality, align on the content, and document your work — whether for review processes, print versions, or archiving as part of your studies.
