# The "Edit Survey" view

## About the "Edit Survey" view

In the "**Edit Survey**" view, you build the actual questionnaire. This is where you create and phrase your questions, arrange them across individual pages and define their properties.

Beyond that, this view is where you configure all the logical flows of your questionnaire — including: [display logic](/help/branching-and-display-logic/display-logic), [skip logic](/help/branching-and-display-logic/skip-logic), [loops](/help/branching-and-display-logic/loops), [A/B tests](/help/branching-and-display-logic/a-b-tests) and [scorings](/help/branching-and-display-logic/tests-scorings).

In short: everything that concerns the content, structure and logic of your survey is set up and edited in this view.

## Layout of the "Edit Survey" view

The editing view is divided into several clearly separated areas that help you work efficiently on your questionnaire:

1. **Work area (center)**
 This is where you create and edit the actual content of your questionnaire. You see all the pages and questions it contains, and can add new ones or remove elements you no longer need. Questions can be edited, moved, copied or deleted directly — much like in a text editor.
2. **Properties panel (right sidebar)**
 In this area you configure the properties of the currently selected element — either an individual question or the entire page. Depending on your selection, the matching settings appear here. You can also change the **Question Type** here.*You'll find more detail on the respective options in the corresponding help articles.*
3. **Navigator (left sidebar)**
 The navigator shows you the structure of your questionnaire at a glance — including pages and questions. With a click, you can quickly jump to any page or question without scrolling. The built-in search function also makes navigating extensive questionnaires easier.
4. **Menu bar (top)**
 The menu bar gives you access at any time to all the central steps of your survey work — e.g. switching to the "Style", "Distribute Survey" or "Analyze Results" views.*Further functions of the menu bar are [described in this article](/help/getting-started/structure-user-interface#obere-menuleiste).*

## Navigation panel

The navigator on the left helps you orient yourself quickly and efficiently within the structure of your questionnaire.

The following functions are available to you here:

1. **Search questions and pages:**
 Enter a keyword or part of a phrase into the search field — e.g. a word from the question text, from an answer option or from the page description. The list is filtered automatically and shows only the matching elements.
2. **Fold or unfold all pages:**
 With a click on the button to the right of the search field, you can fold or unfold all pages at once — especially handy with extensive questionnaires.
3. **See the currently selected question:**
 The question currently selected in the work area is automatically highlighted in the navigator. That way you can always see which question you're editing — even when it has scrolled out of the visible area in the work area.
4. **See the work area's position in the questionnaire structure:**
 A colored bar along the right edge of the navigator shows which section of the questionnaire you're currently seeing in the work area. This keeps you oriented even in long questionnaires.
5. **Move questions and pages by drag-and-drop:**
 You can move questions and pages to a new position directly within the navigator's structure by drag-and-drop.
6. **Move elements from the work area:**
 Drag questions or pages directly from the work area to the desired position in the navigator. This lets you adjust the order of your content flexibly and intuitively.
7. **Move elements via button:**
 Alternatively, you can use the up and down arrows in the helper menu of the respective question or page to move individual elements up or down deliberately — without drag-and-drop.
