# Settings overview

## About the survey settings

In the "Survey Settings" view you can adjust the general properties of your survey: who is allowed to take the survey (and when, if applicable), what respondents see at the end of the survey, and how personal data should be handled. You can also customize the service messages in the questionnaire here.

This view is divided into five sections, briefly described below.

## General Settings

On the **"General"** tab you set the properties that concern the survey as a whole. These include the survey title — for display in the browser tab, in search engines, and when posting on social media —, the language the survey is written in, and the setting that determines whether respondents can pause filling out the questionnaire and resume it at a later time.

## At the End of the Survey

On the **"End of Survey"** tab you set what happens when respondents reach the end of the survey or have fully completed the questionnaire.

## Access

On the **"Access"** tab you determine who is allowed to take the survey. You can also protect access to the survey with a password here and set the time window during which the survey should be reachable for respondents.

## Privacy

The **"Privacy"** tab helps you meet the requirements of the GDPR and keep your data protection officer happy. Here you set, in particular, how personal data is handled.

Careful: once these settings have been applied, they can no longer be undone.

## Custom service messages

If you're not satisfied with QUESTIONSTAR's system and error messages, you can customize them on the **"Service Message"** tab.

## Translations

On the "Translations" tab you can define how the language selection works for your multilingual survey.

## Double Opt-In

If you collect contact data in your survey, you can configure the settings for the double opt-in process on this tab. This lets you set up your data collection in a legally sound and GDPR-compliant way.
