Advantages

Handles **outliers** well – often the most accurate depiction of a group.

Splits the data into two equally sized groups.

Disadvantages

Harder to compute: data must first be **sorted** .

Less well known; many confuse “median” with “average”.

The median is the middle element of a sorted list
