Organizing surveys into folders

What are folders for?

When you work with many surveys, a good structure is essential. In QUESTIONSTAR you can organize surveys by topic or by project using folders. This keeps you in control even on large projects and lets you reach the content you need more quickly.

Default folders in QUESTIONSTAR

QUESTIONSTAR provides a few folders by default. These serve the basic organization of your surveys and are built firmly into the system:

  • All – shows every survey in your account, regardless of which folder it's assigned to
  • Uncategorized – shows surveys that haven't been assigned to a folder of your own
  • Bin – contains deleted surveys that haven't yet been permanently deleted

These folders are fixed and can be neither renamed nor deleted.

Creating your own folder

To create a new folder:

1. Create New Folder
  • In the left-hand panel, at the very bottom, click "Create Folder".
  • In the dialog that appears, enter a name for the new folder.
  • Click "Create" to create the folder.

The new folder appears immediately in the folder list and is ready to help you organize your surveys.

Moving surveys into folders

To move a survey into a particular folder, drag it directly from the middle of the dashboard and drop it into the folder you want on the left-hand side.

Adjusting the folder structure

You can arrange the order of the folders you've created however you like:

  • Hover over a folder name in the left-hand panel.
  • Drag and drop the folder to the position you want.

This lets you move frequently used folders to the top and build a structure that fits the way you work.

Seeing which folder a survey belongs to

When you're in the "All" view, each survey shows whether it's been assigned to a particular folder. If it has, the following note appears below the survey name:
"Located in the folder: [folder name]"

Located in the folder

Clicking this note takes you straight to the folder it belongs to — a handy way to switch quickly to the structured overview.

Note:

You can use the search bar above the dashboard to look for a specific survey. Just type part of the title — the list filters automatically and shows only matching surveys. That way you find what you're looking for quickly, even with a large number of projects.
