Connect the QUESTIONSTAR MCP with Claude

Step-by-step guide for Claude Desktop. The screenshots are from the current app version — the menu labels may change slightly with updates.

Requirements

  • An active QUESTIONSTAR account — already signed in in your browser (with the exact account you want the AI client to connect to)
  • Claude Desktop installed (macOS/Windows)

Set up the connection

Claude Desktop — account menu at the bottom left with the Settings entry
  1. Open Claude Desktop and click your account icon at the bottom left.
  2. Choose Settings from the menu.
Claude Desktop — Connectors section with the Add menu open and the Add custom connector entry
  1. In the sidebar, switch to Connectors.
  2. Click Add at the top right.
  3. Choose Add custom connector.
Claude Desktop — Add custom connector dialog with the name QUESTIONSTAR and the URL https://mcp.questionstar.com/mcp
  1. Enter a name — e.g. “QUESTIONSTAR”.
  2. Under URL, enter: https://mcp.questionstar.com/mcp.
  3. Click Add.
Claude Desktop — QUESTIONSTAR connector page with the Connect button
  1. Back in the Connectors section, click Connect next to QUESTIONSTAR.

Not signed in? The QUESTIONSTAR sign-in page opens first. Sign in, then click Connect again — the second click completes the MCP connection.

QUESTIONSTAR Authorize access dialog with the Deny and Allow buttons
  1. In the QUESTIONSTAR dialog: Allow, to give Claude access.

The connection is now active. Back in the chat you’ll see QUESTIONSTAR tools available.

First prompts to try

  • “Show me my surveys” — a quick inventory.
  • “What can I do with QUESTIONSTAR via the MCP — and how can you help me with it?” — the AI client tells you itself which tools are available. Especially useful when you’re just starting out.

For more ideas — and some surprisingly useful applications — see the “Unexpectedly useful” section of the MCP overview.
