Use QUESTIONSTAR when...

Both offer logic, translations, Zapier and an MCP server. The difference lies in response limits, multilingual support, teamwork and what comes out at the end.

...when you don't want to plan around response quotas. QUESTIONSTAR: unlimited responses on all paid plans. According to its pricing page, Jotform limits the monthly responses per plan (Bronze 1,000, Silver 2,500, Gold 10,000) and the response storage (10,000, 25,000, 100,000). You should check the conditions on exceeding these for the plan you choose. With QUESTIONSTAR, the number of simultaneously active surveys is limited per plan.
...when you want to use automatic translation into 106 languages. QUESTIONSTAR translates surveys automatically into 106 languages, with an unlimited number of language versions, even in the Free plan. Jotform offers form translations in all plans; how far these are automatic is described inconsistently in the sources reviewed.
...when several people work in a team. QUESTIONSTAR PROFESSIONAL: €995/year with 10 simultaneously active surveys and unlimited users. With Jotform, Starter through Gold are single-user plans; only Enterprise offers multiple users according to the pricing page.
...when respondents should see only your brand. QUESTIONSTAR: Whitelabel from MONTHLY, academic from CHAIR. With Jotform, the Jotform branding can be removed from Bronze onward; custom domains are offered by Enterprise according to the pricing page.
...when you want a finished report at the end. QUESTIONSTAR creates analysis reports as editable Word, PowerPoint and Excel files, plus PDF. Jotform reports can be downloaded as PDF; a PowerPoint export is not currently available according to the Report Builder FAQ.
...when you want to analyze more deeply later. QUESTIONSTAR: filters, crosstabs, group comparisons, t-tests and other significance tests as well as SPSS export (.sav) with labels and measurement level, even in the Free plan. Jotform offers charts in the Report Builder and an AI data assistant; significance tests are not publicly documented, and Jotform does not offer a direct SPSS export according to Support.

Switching over: AI migration via MCP

Jotform forms can be output as PDF; you export responses as Excel or CSV. QUESTIONSTAR currently has no dedicated Jotform importer; the AI-based MCP path handles the reconstruction.

Save the form as a PDF or provide the form link.
Hand the file or link to an AI agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.) with the QUESTIONSTAR MCP server.
The AI reconstructs questions, answer options and pages in QUESTIONSTAR; you add logic and language versions during review.

Limits of reconstruction: What gets carried over is what is visible in the form. Payment fields, signature workflows, approval workflows and widgets are not transferred; which processes can be rebuilt with QUESTIONSTAR, the API, webhooks, Zapier or n8n is something you should check separately.

The time required depends on the complexity. For larger sets we offer a guided migration service.

For ongoing collections a clear cut-off date is advisable: close running forms in Jotform, start new surveys in QUESTIONSTAR. You export previous responses as Excel or CSV and, if needed, carry them over via the MCP path.
